Cybersecurity CEO Apologizes for Global Tech Failure

CrowdStrike Founder George Kurtz Explains Windows Update Issue

Sunnyvale, Calif. - August 22, 2023 - George Kurtz, CEO and co-founder of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, has apologized for a global tech failure that disrupted multiple industries on Friday. The outage, which affected thousands of businesses and organizations, was caused by a botched Windows update, according to Kurtz.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disruption this has caused," Kurtz said in a statement. "We are working around the clock to resolve the issue and restore service as quickly as possible."

CrowdStrike, which is known for its endpoint security products and threat intelligence services, has been under intense scrutiny since the outage began. The company has faced criticism for not providing timely updates on the situation and for not having adequate safeguards in place to prevent such a widespread disruption.

In his statement, Kurtz vowed to work with all of CrowdStrike's customers to ensure that they are fully protected from future threats. "We are committed to providing the best possible cybersecurity solutions to our customers," Kurtz said. "We will learn from this experience and take steps to prevent a similar outage from happening again."

The global tech failure has raised concerns about the reliability of cloud-based cybersecurity services. CrowdStrike, which is one of the leading providers of these services, has been particularly hard hit by the outage. It remains to be seen whether the company can recover from this incident and regain the trust of its customers.
