England Fight Back to Secure Dramatic Victory Over the Netherlands

Lionesses Keep UEFA Women's Nations League Hopes Alive with 3-2 Comeback Win

Ella Toone's Late Winner Seals Victory at Wembley

WEB Ella Toone's late winner kept England's UEFA Women's Nations League hopes alive as the Lionesses beat the Netherlands 3-2 at Wembley on Saturday.

England needed to win the match to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the inaugural competition alive, and they did so in dramatic fashion.

The Lionesses fell behind twice to goals from Jill Roord and Lieke Martens, but they fought back both times through goals from Alessia Russo and Lauren James.

Toone then scored the winning goal in the 85th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the Netherlands area to fire home from close range.

The victory takes England to the top of Group A with two games remaining, and they now need just a draw against Switzerland on Tuesday to qualify for the semi-finals.
