The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 on Tuesday night in a game that saw Kristaps Porzingis return from a calf injury.

Porzingis finished with 20 points, including 18 in the second half, to lead the Mavericks. Luka Doncic added 19 points, and Jalen Brunson had 17.

The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, who had 24 points and 10 rebounds. Jaylen Brown added 22 points, and Marcus Smart had 11 points and 10 assists.

The Celtics took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 32-19. Tatum and Brown combined for 16 points in the quarter, and the Celtics held the Mavericks to just 33% shooting.

The Celtics extended their lead in the fourth quarter, and they were never seriously threatened. The Mavericks cut the lead to 10 points with less than two minutes remaining, but the Celtics hit their free throws to seal the victory.

With the win, the Celtics improved to 53-29 on the season. They are now one game ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks for the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Mavericks fell to 49-33 with the loss. They are now tied with the Golden State Warriors for the fifth seed in the Western Conference.
